- Nearly 20 MILLION people faced food crises in 2020 due to a toxic combination of conflict, climate change and Covid-19 pandemic (United Nation)
- Globally, 1/3 of the food produced each year approximately 1.3 billion tons gets lost or wasted. That’s more than enough food to take care of the 821 million people who suffer from hunger worldwide.
Malaysian Issue

- According to SWCorp Malaysia, in 2020, the households sector accounts for 44.5 % of the 16,667.5 tonnes of food waste generated in Malaysia daily.
- About 24 percent or 4,005 tonnes of the food waste is classified as still edible, with the quantity sufficient to provide three meals to 2,970,000 people for a day.
- When too much of a certain food item lies uneaten and its shelf life has expired, it inevitably ends up in the garbage bin.
